American Diva

By: Ryan Pettigrew

American modern day Aphrodite,

On a pedestal worshipped as the Almighty.

Snubbing her nose at all her followers,

Power dependent on foolish ogres.

Externally flawless with an empty shell,

But polished perfectly so it’s hard to tell.

Closet self-loather covered by arrogance,

Shallow and sheisty, depth stands no chance.

Culturally produced and poisonous,

Revealing everything that’s wrong with us.

Shatter the statue, ignore the mirage,

Give your brain a little massage.

Beauty without honor, truly appalling,

Cherish a real goddess, that’s your calling.
